Time and Money

2005.08.03.11.26 · 2 comments

I never really agreed with the old adage that says time is money, but it’s been fighting to prove itself somewhat meaningful in my head lately. Money you can save, but time you always have to spend anyway. With time you can make money but it doesn’t always work the other way around. Sometimes you can buy time, most of the time you can’t. I had always thought I’d die around thirty, but now that I’m past that I’m thinking it’d be nice to live a few thousand years. But time ticks and no one can stop it, and biologically everybody degrades by the second. I guess if one spends their time making money then later they can use the money to waste some time. What is the fucking point though? Is life that boring? Whatever you do, use your time to make as much money as you can, who knows maybe in the near future we can use our money to stop time, or to extend it (cryogenic, deadheading, cell-regeneration, cloning?). But most importantly try to have a good balance, work some, have fun some, make friends, visit your parents, etc while you are able to. In the end no one knows what’s up to come.

Life isn’t that boring; life isn’t boring at all. Most of us, however, choose not to focus on the things that make life “useful” and instead focus on being fed the fruits of life, or jumping on the wagon that has been started by someone else.

Playing games all day or simply aiming for money without any consideration to other things may bring happiness for the time being, but in the long run, when the ability to play games or make more money is no longer with us, we look back and wonder about things we should have not done, but chose to do all our lives. Like you said, blending in the 2 things is the best way to go, by having a balance. By the way, you aren’t “old” yet; so enjoy it too. :)

I tend to leave out the more meaningful things in life in my posts, like love, education, family, etc. It’s just how I write, dark. But yeah I do try to enjoy life some. Having a perfect balance is tough, but anything perfect is boring anyway. Well as for now life is pretty boring overall for me, but I’m working to have some fun with it.
