Google Desktop

I almost always miss out on emerging technology but today I’m only a few days lagged. I bumped across this article just now and apparently Google has developed a client that allows you to search your hard drive like you do websites and they call it Google Desktop. It indexes everything in your harddrive(s) on the first run then you can search anything with light speed using the friendly Google interface. I can’t start to tell you how very useful and innovative it is, you’ll just have to download it and experience it yourself! GO.. what the hell are you waiting for? :D

GmailFS

I’m on dial-up! :( While having a Gmail account is very nice it’s not too convenient, so I still stuck with my me-at-jermexpress.com POP account as my main email. Today I found another interesting way to utilize excessive space on Gmail. I discovered a Windows shell extension that allows you to store files on a Gmail account, as if it were a drive on your local computer. I thought it’s pretty cool so despite my crappy dial-up I downloaded it, installed it, and now I’m telling you about it so stop wasting those precious bytes and load them up!! :D

Firefox

Mozilla released Firefox 1.0 Preview Release recently and I’m downloading it right now. I thought I’d encourage you people to download it too since it’s the best browser on the planet! :D It’s the only cure for the popup, spyware and adware infested web. Help rediscover the web and while you’re at it spread the word to everyone in your contact list! Leave IE and convert.. sinners!! :D

Skype Me!!

I remember in the old days I used to be able to call my intercontinental friends thru the internet with my crappy 56k dial-up connection. Then some big company monopolized the technology or whatever but it wasn’t possible anymore. I just found out recently there’s a new service from Skype that relives the old days, the free and P2P way. So VoIP returns?! I hope it works with dial-up connections because broadband is still a few centuries ahead over here. And if it does work it could mean that I’ll be back in business since I’ll be able to voice-communicate with prospective clients again. Also since my girl’s leaving in 26 days and counting, I’ll be able to save $$$ off calling cards by using the friendly local telecom and my crappy modem. I’m skyped!!

Firefox Evangelist

I’ve been quite a Firefox evangelist lately. I downloaded it a while ago and fell in love rightaway, specifically for the tabbed browsing and how fast the bugger is. I’ve been telling all my friends to download Firefox and give it a try, and to dump IE. Last night I won another soul, I got Ender to use Firefox and he even fixed up his site to work in it. Mozilla shall reward me!!
