I’ve always liked Will Smith. There’s something about his character that I feel connected with. I didn’t know what it was until I saw this video on Frank Kern’s blog. My favorite part is how fear motivates him, while fear usually stops people from doing things. When you have a dream, you have to protect it. Enjoy the video!
I am lagging on my Project 365 so I have to cheat a little. These are shots from my mini trip home to visit my parents (not shown). They live on a school campus in the mountains. You will see fragments of it from the shots below. The upper shots are from the buzzling metrocity of Jakarta.
I also bought an ultra wide-angle lens during my visit, the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 PRO DX [read review here]. I think wide-angle photography is my new demon. Shots 062-069 were taken with the new lens.
Enjoy!

069 – Central Park
This is a brand new mall in Jakarta. Last I was there it was just a hole in the ground. Look what sprouted out of the hole.
We’re in Jakarta in transit to Bali after a week visiting my folks in Bandung and taking Lee to the volcano. We went to the mall today and I had a good sit down with Roy while Vie walked around the shops. Coming home she told me to close my eyes and in my hand she put down a strange thin long black box. When I opened my eyes there sat in my palms a brand new MacBook battery. She said it was an early birthday present because I needed it. My battery went bust about a year ago due to the Bali heats because I always kept my laptop on almost 24/7. So I have been immobile for a year and she figured it was time to liberate my workspace again.
Sometimes I wonder what I did right in the past to deserve this kind of love. It’s not the price of the battery that touched me, but it’s the careful thought behind her actions.
Another shot from the Ubud Monkey Forest, this time of the hanging roots of a sacred banyan tree.
The presence of sacred forest is a demonstration of the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. In Bali, sanctuaries such as the Monkey Forest are usually in sacred village areas, often surrounded by temples. These cultural sanctuaries are not only an important part of Balinese heritage, but also an important part of everyday live. Temple festivals are regularly held for the villagers and the gods in such areas.
